STP & Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington

STP Chester Bennington     Stone Temple Pilots and Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington Firing it UP in the studio while Scott Weiland is on … well, he’s gone.  Yes, it’s been a while since you’ve seen a post on soddermusic.com reporting on that which dwells outside the realm of Sodder-dom, but every once in a while I still get the itch that begs for a good scratching.

According to LoudWire.com Bennington took the stage at KROQ’s 2013 Weenie Roast alongside the 3 Bad-Ass STP members as they proceeded to rein rock down from the heavens upon a delighted and unexpected crowd.  I personally think it ranks high on the awesometer (ah-s-om-eter : an instrument devised to measure the overall awesomeness of a particular area or event) to have Bennington rock alongside that of STP and I’m not alone.  Dean DeLeo (STP Guitarist) was quoted as follows: “Chester has a one-of-a-kind voice that we’ve admired for a long time. We know Linkin Park will always be his priority, but we thought it would be cool to try something together. We managed to find the time to record a song and we’re all really happy with the result.” (LoudWire.com).

It’s also been a life long dream of Chester’s to step into the position with STP as he admitted, “I’ve loved STP since I was 13 years old and they’ve had a huge influence on me. When the opportunity came up to do something creative with them, I jumped at the chance. The guys in Linkin Park have been incredibly supportive of me undertaking this project while I’ve continued to work on new music with LP.” (LoudWire.com)

Go ahead and take a gander at the video below to see Bennington and STP in the studio, which is where Sodder will be coming July 8th (had to trhough that in):

Avenged Sevenfold Writing Some Sabbath and Zepplin

Avenged SevenfoldAvenged Sevenfold’s M. Shadows gives the down low on their upcoming album which will hopefully be released sometime around March of 2013.  So far six songs have been written for the new album and Shadow has expressed that the feel of the new album will be quiet different from “Carry On”.

”The new album has a lot more of a Black Sabbath / Led Zeppelin feel to it than ‘Carry On’,” says Shadows. “There’s definitely more Sabbath in what we’re writing, and we’re proud of ‘Carry On,’ but this album is going to be on a whole new level,” according to an interview with loudwire.com.

So for the Sabbath and Zeppelin fans out there it sounds if Sevenfold is going to punch out some tuneage that will batter your ear drums with the musical assault of Rock and Roll’s greats.  I know I’m definitely looking forward to this release as is our own guitar players Caylon and Jud.

Who else is pumped to hear the new Avenged Sevenfold sound?

SODDER….World Domination Is Inevitable !!!

ZZ Top … Where’s The Tunes?

Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top

In an interview with Noise11.com, Billy Gibbons gave the scoop on what’s taking so long for ZZ Top’s next album to hit the streets.

Billy stated that Rick Rubbin has quiet an unorthodox way of doing things, but that he is working on the album.  This has takin a lot longer than previous albums and Rick has told Billy that “…. if we stumble into something that is really insane I’m going to keep it.”  Billy replied with a “That’s Good!”

With a friendship spanning 3 decades Billy is very confident in Rick’s abilities and seems just as excited and in the dark on the finalization as ZZ Top fans.

So don’t fret Toppers, it’s coming …. eventually.  Hang in there and mellow out with the awesome tuneage that ZZ Top has already provided us.  And if you read the other blog on Billy Gibon’s BBQ Sauce and developed a mouth-watering addiction to the idea of BBQ ribs with BFG Sauce then you can go to billyfgibbons.com to place your order.
