The Split ... The Greed

Those that have subscribed to Netflix’s service for quiet some time may have noticed a drop in popular TV shows and movies on the online streaming side, I know I have.  Is Netflix dropping the ball?  Have they gone insane and actually think that an older catalog of ‘B’ movies and second-rate TV shows are the future of living room entertainment?  Has their latest debacle of price changes damaged their ability to secure more licensing?  Can a penny really get rid of a wart?

All good questions, but the truth of the matter is that the cable television entertainment industry is getting …. well, GREEDY!  Apparently (according to yahoo news) $30 million a year for Starz Network is just not enough to keep their boats afloat!  It’s believed that Starz has demanded as much as $300 million a year for their licenses …. wow!  They planning on Netflix supporting their entire yearly profit from here on out?  Things aren’t any better with HBO and their lackluster moronic move to HBO GO (really, I need a cable subscription to use HBO GO on my XBOX …. idiots).  It’s been speculated that HBO is also wanting a GINORMOUS amount of mullah for their licensing (wait … aren’t they owned by the same parent company .. or semthing?).

Netflix has already spent $4 BILLION on securing licensing fees during the next few years and CEO, Reed Hastings foresees an increase of billions more to come.  What does this mean for you and me?  Higher … Much Higher fees for Netflix, or . .. …. Commercials!

So what can we do?  Who do we need to direct this innate anger and hostility toward as we metaphorically pick up our torches and pitchforks?  What capitalistic greedy dictator like company has earned our attention?  The CABLE NETWORKS …. HBO, STARZ, CINEMAX, DISNEY.  Why them you ask?  Well, they have done their own studies and have actually had the nutsacks to tell Netflix that it’s not right to charge so little for so much entertainment.  Now, this isn’t capitalism folks …. this is quickly turning into a tyrannical big brothership that starts dictating to the smaller guys what and when they should charge more, and unfortunately we get stuck paying the price.

So … take up keyboards, phones, and letters and start slamming these bad boys of delusional grandeur with your colorful yet somewhat distasteful remarks of disappointment, and if that don’t work … boycott the services.  Drop HBO and STARZ if you have to (Spartacus’ season is over right?) and show them with your almighty dollar that we will not go gently into that good night, we will not lie in the wake of their oppression as they use nefarious means of manipulation to grab at our financial stability, we will no longer drink beer before liquor!  It is time to take control of our financial freedom and make a stand against, not capitalism, but GREED!

By the way … does anyone have season 2 of Spartacus recorded?  I …. canceled mine a bit early!
