Doobie Brothers’ Michael Hossack Farewell

For those that hold a tender spot in their heart for great songs from the Doobie Brothers like “China Grove” or “Listen to the Music” you may be bewildered to hear that the drummer who layed the sweet grooves to those songs has passed to the beyond.  Michael Hossack, who played with the Doobie Brothers from 1971 to 1973 and again in the 80′s, passed away Monday after batteling cancer at the age of 65.

Although Hossack was widely known for his work with the Doobie Broothers some people might be surprised to know that he wasn’t just a drummer.  He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.  It was after this time that he was noticed by the Doobie Brothers and picked up just 2 years after leaving the service.

Although there are many more accomplishments from Hossack I’ll leave this short and sweet.  Thanks Michael for your contributions to mankind and I hope the sky ride to the next kingdom is full of good times and great tunes.
